Identifying Code Issues
Want to watch an adjustor cringe? Say the phrase “code upgrades.”
What Are Code Issues?
People have learn over the years how to build better to prevent loss of life and structure damage. Localities incorporated these improvements in their building codes so new buildings are safer and less vulnerable to damage. It isn’t feasible to require older buildings to upgrade to the new requirements; the existing structures would never be finished. However, when a major renovation or rebuilding occurs the local government may require the building be retrofitted with upgrades to bring it in line with current regulations.
How Do You Know?
Hire a building consultant. Technacon Company Inc. stays current on code changes. They work with local municipalities to identify when changes are required by code, what those changes are, what the costs of the changes will be, and any difficulties to getting the client back up and running created by the changed requirements.
Does It Matter?
Code issues can double the cost of a project. Depending on the insurance coverage, these costs may or may not be covered in the policy. The changes can’t be ignored or the municipality will not issue a certificate of occupancy and the client will not be able to reopen the facility. Technacon Company Inc. consultants are experienced in looking for alternatives and providing clear information on the cost of code issues.
